Before You Redesign a Website With AI, Ask Users What Actually Needs Fixing

Customer feedback notes guiding a website redesign from an existing site to an updated version

AI can quickly produce a cleaner-looking version of an existing website. It can reorganize layouts, modernize visual patterns and make a site feel more current. What it cannot know on its own is which parts of the current experience are causing trouble for real visitors.

Before a redesign, ask users what they were trying to do, what they could not find, what felt unclear and what information was missing. That feedback gives the redesign a working brief. Without it, an updated website can look better while leaving the same pricing confusion, navigation problem or form friction in place.

Start with the problems people actually report

Use a short survey, a website feedback prompt, support conversations or sales-call notes to collect evidence from recent visitors and customers. Focus on questions that connect to a decision:

  • What did you come to this website to do?
  • Was anything difficult to find?
  • What was unclear about the service, product or price?
  • Did you stop before completing a form or booking? Why?
  • What information did you expect to see but could not find?

Look for repeated answers, not isolated preferences. If several people cannot tell what a service includes, that is a content and structure problem. If users repeatedly abandon a quote form, the form or the information immediately before it needs attention. These are useful inputs for a redesign because they describe the job the next version has to do.

Use AI for the rebuild, not for guessing the brief

uKit AI is an example of a tool designed to work from an existing website: it analyzes the current site and generates an updated version from its content, structure and design patterns. That can shorten the first stage of a renovation. It does not automatically receive the context held outside the website—customer comments about unclear pricing, visitor questions about a service or explanations of why a form was abandoned.

Feedback fills that gap. Use it to decide which messages must become clearer, which content should remain, which pages need a different structure and which parts of the generated result need extra checking.

Keep direct discovery in the picture

A redesign handled by a specialist can include discovery that goes beyond the website itself. For example, a managed migration service such as Weebly-to-Wix.com reviews the existing website, discusses migration goals and requirements directly with the client, prepares the project scope, rebuilds the site and lets the client review the result before handover.

That direct communication gives the person doing the work context that is not visible in the current pages: what must stay, what needs to change and what the business expects from the new version. The same principle applies when AI is part of the work. The tool can produce a starting point; people still need to define the priorities and judge the result.

Turn feedback into a redesign checklist

Before generating or approving a new version, create a short list with three columns: keep, change and verify.

  • Keep: messages, pages and functions users already rely on.
  • Change: repeated sources of confusion, missing information and high-friction steps.
  • Verify: important actions such as request forms, booking, checkout, mobile navigation and pricing comprehension.

For example, “people cannot find the pricing explanation” becomes a redesign requirement: pricing must be visible from the service page and explain what affects the cost. “The contact form feels too long” becomes a check: remove non-essential fields and test the form with a small group after the update.

Review the new site with the same questions

Once an AI-generated version is ready, return to the original feedback. Can a new visitor now explain the offer? Can they find the service they came for? Do they know what happens after a form submission? A short post-redesign feedback check is often more useful than debating whether the new layout simply looks more modern.

AI can make website renovation faster. Customer feedback determines what renovation should solve.
